Edison Deck – Blackwing

Blackwing is one of the strongest decks in Edison Format. Blackwings are DARK Winged-Beast monsters that focuses on card advantage, swarming and synchro summoning.

To start let’s look at 2 of the Blackwing tuner monsters: the level 3 “Gale the Whirlwind” and the level 2 “Blizzard the Far North”.

Gale is a level 3 tuner that can special summon itself from your hand if you control a Blackwing monster. This makes synchro summoning very easy as you can normal summon your non-tuner Blackwing and special summon Gale, setting yourself up for a synchro summon!

Gale also has an effect where one per turn it can half an opponent’s monster’s ATK. This is especially useful for getting rid of your opponent’s pesky “Stardust Dragon.”

Blizzard the Far North when normal summoned can special summon a level 4 or lower Blackwing monster from your graveyard in defense position setting you up for synchro summoning. This essentially makes a one card synchro summon!

The commonly used non-tuners include: Bora the Spear, Kault the Moon Shadow, Shura the Blue Flame, and Sirocco the Dawn.

Black Whirlwind

Black Whirlwind is an extremely powerful spell card, a key card in the Blackwing Strategy, generating huge advantage and searching for key cards.

Vagu The Emblem of Honor

Vagu can banish itself and 1 non-tuner Blackwing monster from your graveyard to special summon a synchro monster from your extra deck who’s level equal the combined level of the 2 banished monsters. You can set Vagu and wait until he is destroyed or tributed for a tribute summon, or you can also tribute him quicker to activate Icarus Attack, or send him to the graveyard with cards like Dark Grepher, Foolish Burial and Armageddon Knight. Because Vagu is such a strong card some deck will focus strongly on it such as the “Vagu Turbo” Deck.

DARK Monster Support

Due to the archetype being all DARK Monsters the deck can avail of powerful DARK Monster support.
